Congratulations on your admission to the MSW program. Below are some commonly asked questions regarding getting started in the MSW program, as well as a list of available resources for Graduate School.

Q: I'd like to speak to an advisor - who should I contact?

A: Until August 2009, please email lisa.willey@byu.edu and she will answer or field your questions.

Q: What classes I should register for Fall 2009 semester?

A: New incoming MSW students (whose undergrad degree is NOT social work) should register for Soc W 603, 620, 630, 660, 698R section 3 or 4, and 1-2 electives (570, 580, 670 and 680 series). New incoming MSW students (whose undergrad degree IS social work) should register for Soc W 603, 620, 698R section 3 or 4, and 2-4 electives (570, 580, 670 and 680 series). All 1st semester MSW students should plan on about 15 credit hours for Fall 2009.

Q: My Graduate Progress Report says that in order to get my program of study approved I need to contact my graduate coordinator. What should I do?

A: Wait until September 2009, when progress reports will be discussed at the new student orientation on August 28, 2009.


Q: When and where is the MSW New Student Orientation?

A: The New MSW Student Orientation will be held Friday, August 28th from 8 AM to 4 PM in 2258 BYU Conference Center. Please Note: All new MSW students are required to attend.
