What are your career goals?
After graduating, I hope to continue working with children and families as I pursue my LCSW. Additionally, I plan to go on for a PhD in social work and possibly a second PhD in a neighboring field. I would also like to pursue my research interests of sexual addiction, same-sex attraction, and gender identity disorder. I plan to continue my work both with Clergy Bridge as well as with orphanage children in the Ukraine. Eventually, I would like to teach social work at a university level.
Tell us about your BYU internship experience(s):
I did my spring/summer internship at Wasatch Mental Health in Child and Family Services. I was able to do individual, family, and group therapy in Youth Outpatient as well as participate as a group therapist for Stride, their day treatment program for children ages 5-12. Lastly, I did a community project of compiling adoption resources to be given to new adoptive families throughout Utah County. Upon entering the internship, I was apprehensive about what kind of experience I would have there. However, it turned out to be more than I could have ever asked for. Not only was I able to learn extensively about working with children and families, diverse populations, and various disorders, but I was also to establish a good repertoire with my coworkers. I know my internship prepared me to be a better clincian and I would never trade my time there for anything.
