MSW Class of 2020
Alumni

Why did you choose to pursue an MSW degree? Because I had been wanting to be a therapist since I was 16. I originally was going through psychology but then worked in mental health and found all the therapists were LCSW. So I decided to go that route.

Why did you choose BYU's Social Work Program? I had heard it was a really good clinical Program, it was close to home but most importantly I'd have the gospel infused with my studies.

What are your thoughts on BYU's focus on a spiritually strengthening educational experience? I loved that piece. It has helped me since I graduated and it definitely helped with issues while in the program in my personal life.

What are your thoughts on the family experience at BYU? It allowed me the time I needed with my kids and the professors seemed to understand my struggles with being a single mom.

How did BYU's MSW program prepare you for your career? It has totally prepared me to deal with a variety of situations. I feel more confident in my abilities because I had such grounded foundations.

What are your career goals? I am where I want to be in the public schools and working in private practice one night a week. I also have gotten my LCSW.

Tell us about your BYU internship experience(s): I learned so much in my internships even the internship I didn't like as much I learned a lot and felt a lot of support from BYU and my internships to help me learn and grow.
